Franky Pouw
Born January 10, 1989 in Deventer – a city in the eastern Netherlands – Franky is a self-taught abstract painter.
Having had a rough childhood, he has been suffering from social anxiety and PTSD since his youth, as his family life was defined by an abusive father, causing Franky to become isolated.
A creative individual for most of his life, a young Franky found drawing to satisfy his artistic desires. When his mother purchased a set of acrylic paints, he found himself drawn into the realm of abstract art. Franky realized that the canvas could act as an outlet for his emotions and, without the restrictive nature of realism, Franky was able to capture his raw passion rapidly and accurately. Through his expressive, abstract depictions of his struggle, Franky hopes to inspire creativity within similar individuals, while also helping to express his true feelings to the world at large.
Franky never has an exact method when he begins a painting, a defining mark of his individuality. Each piece conveys an individual idea or technique; just as Franky’s thoughts are unique from one another, so are his paintings. This approach allows Franky an added level artistic freedom to properly express himself while also preventing repetition and banality in his work.
With his paintings Franky brings people on his personal journey and hopes one day to help others and to be a inspiration to people that are in a similar situations.
